Cities can get over crowded, polluted and lack green spaces. This is largely due to increasing population of cities all over the world. There could be some advantages of living in cities particularly if the countryside lacks infrastructure and economic opportunities. People usually move to urban areas to find jobs and access better facilities. Nowadays that has changed significantly, as more and more people settle there is a tremendous burden on the fragile transport systems, public utilities and housing. In some cities of Asia like Ho chi minh, Mumbai and Manila the quality of life is worse than smaller towns and villages. The level of air pollution in Chinese cities is causing health problems for the people. It has become very stressful to live in a large city. The benefits have eroded and there is less comfort. It is more of a struggle than an advantage. This scenario is true in not just the third world but also in the first world. It is not very different in New York city or London. There are other problems for city residents as well. Urban crime is on the rise, the safety of city dwellers is at a risk. There is widespread urban poverty due to unemployment and migration. If city living is compared to rural life, the later would seem extremely attractive. That is because many villages and small towns offer good environment, peaceful neighborhoods and good basic facilities although there may not be high paying jobs. Cities provide job opportunities to people and we find thousand of villagers moving to the cities to get employment. However, one finds that on comparison village life is a more peaceful one. In cities most people live like strangers. A city dweller works from morning till night. He seldom finds time to socialize because he has long office hours. There is the problem of commuting. Distances are long and to keep any appointment in a big city is difficult. People get stuck in traffic jams and have to also stand in line for hours waiting for a bus to arrive. Buses are packed with people and there is a lot of harassment. People become aggressive. Each man feels the need to satisfy his own need for comfort at the cost on his neighbour. Facilities are limited everywhere and there are too many people to avail of these facilities. This causes trouble at railway stations, in trains, at cinema theaters, in buses and at petrol stations. Man has become materialistic and selfish in a big city. Nature is neglected and even if one wants to enjoy the peace that comes with nature he cannot. Model Answer 1: The places where people live affects greatly in their lifestyles and living places is one of the very basic needs for people. People opine differently while choosing the living places. Some prefer and argue that city is the best place to live at since it provides so many advantages over the rural area, but other think that villages are the best places to live a good life. Both places have advantages and disadvantages. It is true that a city offers so many opportunities and advantages those are absent in a country side. For instance, the modern transportation and communication systems are better in any city compared to a village. In a city people have access to many different transportation systems and have latest technologies to communicate; like cellular phones, internet, fax etc. Moreover when a new technology arrives at the country it is first introduced in the city area and usually 2/3 years later to the village. Secondly, cities provide better security to it's inhabitants like the mobile police patrols, special forces, community polices, security guards, traffic-polices etc. But in the village the number of security force persons are too low compared to the over all population. Moreover, cities provide better treatment, hospitals, qualified doctors, better educational institutes, and amusement.
Difference Between Village Life and City Life!It has been heard for ages that the lifestyle varies between a city and village. Definitely there is a great difference in the lifestyle among people living in villages and cities. Neither of them is above one another, but definitely has their own advantages and disadvantages.It is considered that life in a city is almost equal to heaven and is wonderful and enjoyable. The reason behind such kind of thinking or feeling is only because, cities get expanded and more opportunities are made available for the people flooding in. New ventures, experiments and socializing happen in cities. The doors for each opportunity are more open in cities when compared to villages and therefore the facilities and comfort would be different from what you may find in villages.Cities provide great facilities for education, medical treatments, job opportunities etc. which makes life more settled and takes it to the next level. The life led in a city is more enjoyable with the kind of amenities made available there.However things are different in villages. Though the lifestyle is not as advanced as what you see in the cities, the culture and attitude of people are more warm and welcoming. They are more considerate and know each other in the village.For any need or help you could definitely rely on your neighbors at any hour of the day. They are more friendly and more onto the traditional kind of practices and believes and are not gadget or tech savvy people. For them, the daily need to be met is itself taken as an enjoyment and all their works are dived and shared and helped by each other.When coming to the kind of food habits that people of both these places follow; people living in cities are more vulnerable to many diseases because of their sedentary lifestyle and fast food intake.
