In Year 10 and 11, students follow the OCR GCSE Mathematics B (Linear) specification. Students in Band 1 and the top of Band 2 follow the higher tier (with grades A* to D available) Students in the rest of Band 2 and Band 3 follow the foundation tier (with grades C to G available). The specification can be accessed via the OCR website . Keystage 4 Resources Study Club Key Stage 4 Maths study club is held every Wednesday 15:40 – 16:30, in A4. Key Stage 4 study club is the perfect place for students to complete homework, review topics they have found difficult in lessons and access exam practice. The club runs on a drop-in basis, so students can attend as and when they require some extra support with their Mathematics. The club is supervised by a minimum of two different, qualified Mathematics teachers each week. Therefore, it is also the perfect opportunity for students to hear explanations from other Mathematics teachers in the department instead of just from their own teacher. This can often be helpful in understanding a topic they find difficult. Students are expected to bring their own work to the study club as it is not possible for us to provide specific tasks for each student who attends. Schemes of Work Course Overview Year 10 In Year 10, students are assessed once every half term (as per the assessment schedule on our homepage). The assessments cover all of the topics that have been taught up to that point in the year. The most appropriate form of preparation for these assessments is to attempt the questions from past GCSE exam papers, as the questioning is of a very similar style. Students study OCR GCSE Mathematics Specification B – Linear(J567), and are assessed in a linear fashion at the end of Year 11. All pupils study Number and Algebra, Shape and Space, (Geometry), Handling data (Statistics) and Applying Mathematics (Problem Solving).
