Is in his or her senior year of high school, or Has also never attended any college, university or technical school since graduating high school or earning a G.E.D. regardless of age or graduation status. Admissions Requirements A cumulative 2.50 academic G.P.A. on a 4.0 scale. Standardized Test Scores: An SAT score of 1300 (including writing component) OR. An ACT composite of 18 Candidate is NOT required to have taken both the SAT AND ACT exams. Test Optional Admission: Please see complete details to fulfill this requirement for admission. (no fee, no deadline and no early decision) Official SAT OR ACT results (test scores printed on transcripts are accepted, and both tests are NOT required) or fulfill requirements for test optional admission Official high school transcript or G.E.D. results Official college transcript if taking college-level courses while in high school A personal essay (optional).  (refer to the Personal Essay page for further instruction) Letters of recommendation and resume (optional).  There is no separate form for guidance counselors or recommendation letters. The Admissions Decision Early decision is not offered. All applications are reviewed for an admissions decision and scholarship consideration (no separate application required for scholarship consideration). No applicant is automatically denied admission. The decision to admit a student is based upon a variety of factors which take into account what an individual may contribute to the University, as well as what the University is able to contribute to that person. REQUIREMENTS FOR DOCTORAL PROGRAMS: Ed.D. in Leadership and Administration Complete the online application for admission and return it with a non-refundable application fee.  Application fee waived if submitted online. Request official transcripts from all previous institution(s) attended and have them sent to Point Park University. A minimum 3.25 graduate G.P.A. is required for admittance. Current resume detailing all previous educational/administrative experience—fax to 412-392-6164 or email to gradadmission@pointpark.edu. Submit a statement of purpose (minimum three pages; maximum five pages) addressing your reasons for pursuing a terminal degree and why you feel Point Park’s program will best suit your needs— fax to 412-392-6164 or email to gradadmission@pointpark.edu. Submit three letters of recommendation. All letters should address your ability to work successfully under multiple demands. Recommenders may be contacted by Point Park University:One from an academic reference who is familiar with your academic career;One from a professional reference who can speak to your work performance individually and with colleagues; andOne from an individual who is familiar with your integrity and commitment to improvement. Once all materials have been received and reviewed, selected applicants will be invited to participate in a required interactive, observed.
How to Apply to the Cinema Arts Program In order to apply and be admitted into the cinema production, animation and visual effects or screenwriting program, prospective students must go through a two-step process: Academic admittance: Apply to Point Park Admission Office for academic admittance (Apply to Point Park if you have not already submitted an application). Artistic admittance: Submit an artistic portfolio using our online process. Applicants are required to create an account to begin the online submission process. Personal Essay Your personal essay should be 550-750 words and may include (but not limited to): Professional and artistic goals Description of who you are as a person Discussion of the types of films, art and/or stories you are interested in creating B. Creative Resume Your creative resume can include any work that reflects your creative ability, such as: Media arts (film, video, animation, graphics, photography, music) Creative writing (short stories, essays, film/play scripts) Studio arts (drawing, painting, sculpting, set design) Performance (acting, singing, dancing) Listed work should include a brief description of the work, year of completion and your role in its creation. C. Creative Work Sample Cinema production, animation and visual effects or screenwriting applicants can provide 1-5 sample(s) of your creative work that best demonstrates your abilities including (but are not limited to): Video, animation, visual effects works, etc. Music, soundscapes, etc. Writing samples: film/play scripts, essays, short stories, creative writing pieces, etc. Visual arts work in the form of fine arts work (paintings, drawings, sculpture etc.) photography, graphic design, etc.
